1.1 Introduction

Hi, I am Jeremy McPeak, and I invite you to spend a few minutes with me learning how to manipulate the elements in your web pages using the DOM. In this video, I’ll give you a preview of what you’ll learn and show you the simple web app we’ll be creating together.

1.1 Introduction

The Document Object Model, or DOM is probably the most important component of a web page because it defines the set of objects that represent the elements in a web page with JavaScript, we can use the DOM to manipulate the elements in an HTML document. We can change their style, create new elements, and even reorganize the elements. All of the cool interactive stuff that you see on just about every major webpage like Amazon, Google, or well, practically anything else on the internet is made possible by using Java Script and the Dom. Hi, I am Jeremy McPeak, and I invite you to spend a few minutes with me as we practice using the DOM to manipulate web pages. We'll start at the very beginning, and you'll practice finding specific elements in the document using three of the DOM's most useful methods. From there, you'll learn about dynamically creating elements and populating them with content and attributes. You learn how to manipulate and elements style and reorder the documents structure by removing and inserting elements. You'll also learn how to navigate the document using the DOM reversal properties. I'm excited to spend this time with you. So when you're ready, cue up the next video and we will get started.
