1.2 What's New in Android Studio 2?
In this lesson, I’ll show you all the major features introduced in Android Studio builds 2.0 and 2.1. I’ll start with instant run, a feature which, when used effectively, can dramatically improve your productivity. I’ll then show you how to create a configuration to test apps on multiple physical devices using Google Cloud Test Lab. Next, I’ll show how you to make the most of the features the new Android emulator offers.
App indexing is a hot topic these days, and Android Studio 2 makes it very easy to test if your app is indexable. Later in this lesson, I’ll show you how to use the new app indexing test feature.
If you are an OpenGL ES programmer, you’re going to like the experimental GPU profiler introduced in build 2.0. Because using it in a project involves a lot of manual steps which are not obvious, I’ll be covering all of them in some detail in this lesson.
Finally, I’ll show you how to create an Android Studio 2.1 project for Android N development and configure it to use the new Jack toolchain so you have access to the advanced language features of Java 8.
