1.1 Introduction

Hi, my name is Jeremy McPeak, and I want to teach you how to write Vue components with three simple coding examples. By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation for coding Vue apps!

1.1 Introduction

Component-driven development has changed the way that we approach client-side development. Of course, the big popular framework is React, but if you've used React, then you know that it has some issues, and I'll just leave it at that. But thankfully, React isn't the only option in the space. Vue has a tremendous following and it grows daily. If you already know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, then you can easily jump right in and start writing components. Hi, my name is Jeremy McPeak and I want to teach you how to write Vue components with just three examples. Now granted, these examples span multiple lessons, focusing on specific topics. But by the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation of Vue knowledge. We'll start by getting familiar with a typical Vue component's structure. We'll then transition into data-driven components, where you will learn how to pass data to your components, iterate over a collection of data and even retrieve data from the server and work with that data. We'll then shift gears and build a form component. Now I know that sounds boring, but it is a great way to interact with and react to the user's input. So we will talk about events, data binding, dynamic properties and manipulating style. Basically all the things you need to know to get up and developing Vue components. Now I do expect you to you to know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. And we will be using modern JavaScript syntax and techniques. So if you aren't up to speed on things like native JavaScript modules, then you will probably want to freshen up with ES2015 and 2016. Now, we have a lot of ground to cover, so when you're ready, queue up the first video and we will get started.
