  • Overview
  • Transcript

Reactive programming is a popular new programming paradigm that makes it easy to code apps and interfaces that respond to dynamically changing data. Now reactive programming has come to JavaScript thanks to the RxJS library. RxJS provides an API for asynchronous programming, using entities called "observables" to store data of any type. View components or other objects can then subscribe to observables to react to changing data.

In this Coffee Break Course, Envato Tuts+ instructor Reggie Dawson will give you a first look at RxJS. He'll go through some simple examples to show you how the RxJS library works and how to manipulate data using it.

Build on your knowledge of reactive programming in our course: Deep Dive Into Reactive Programming With RxJS.

We've built a comprehensive guide to help you learn JavaScript, whether you're just getting started as a web developer or you want to explore more advanced topics:

1. Reactive Programming With RxJS

1.1 Introduction

[SOUND] If you're involved with JavaScript, you may have heard of the term reactive programming. A popular library name RxJS has been released that allows developers to use observables. These new data structures allow you great flexibility in your programs, but most people don't know how to use them. You won't become an expert after this coffee break course, but you should be comfortable enough to start using our RxJS in your apps. First you will learn what is happening when you look at observables in action, then we will build a few examples where we will learn to use observables. You should definitely take a few minutes to learn reactive programming with RxJS.
