4.1 Conclusion

Every component in client-side development is important. JavaScript lets us add and change the behavior of the page, and CSS lets us define how the page looks, but the DOM is the piece that glues everything together. Without it, we would not be able to write interactive and engaging web pages and applications because it is what lets us access the elements in a page.

My name is Jeremy McPeak, and from all of us here at Envato Tuts+, thank you for watching!

4.1 Conclusion

Every part of client side development is important. JavaScript lets us add and change the behavior of a page. CSS lets us define how the page looks. But it's the DOM that glues everything together. Without it, we would not be able to write interactive and engaging web pages because it's what lets us access the elements in the page. But there is so much more to the DOM. In fact, we could spend hours talking about the different objects, modules and capabilities that it provides. One part of becoming a developer is studying documentation. Yeah, it can be boring. But I highly recommend that you spend some time with the DOM, documentation at the Mozilla Developer Network. MDN is a fantastic resource. Not only will it explain the different object's modules, but it gives you examples and even polyfields to add support in older browsers. The MDN is a resource you'll never stop using, well at least until something replaces it, which isn't likely. Thank you for watching this course. Please feel free to contact me through Twitter or the Tuts+ forums if you have any questions. From all of us here at Tuts+, thank you and I will see you next time.
