The shadow DOM is at the heart of custom elements. It keeps our components encapsulated and allows us to add a custom style to a component without affecting the global environment. In this lesson, I’ll show you the best way to incorporate styles in with your custom element. I’ll also explain differences between the shadow DOM and Polymer’s light-weight shadow DOM polyfill, Shady DOM.
