Envato's Most Wanted: eCommerce Plugins

Want a free year on Tuts+ (worth $180)? Start an InMotion Hosting plan for $3.49/mo.

Earlier this month, we ran our first post promoting Envato's Most Wanted. Recall that these are opportunities for which users, developers, and designers are offered significant rewards for delivering high-quality work assuming that it meets the criteria for the contest.

Today, we're offering up the same thing, except rather working with Directing & Listing Themes, we're looking specifically at eCommerce Plugins (which is great considering we've been branching out - and will be continuing to branch out - into this material in current and future articles).

Yup - $9,000 offered up for work with PrestaShop, WooCommerce, and OpenCart? Pretty nice! Of course, just as with the previous contest - and with other contests, really - there are some terms and conditions.

The Terms of eCommerce Plugins

Directly from the event details:

We’ve put $9,000 bounty on the heads of Envato’s most wanted file types – WooCommerce Plugins,OpenCart Extensions and PrestaShop Modules.
How do you collect? Submit a new item between May 7th and July 11th 2014 and fill out an entry form to be in with a chance to win to a cash prize!

But what does the contest actually entail? That is to say, what are the prizes that are offered for each of the various platforms plugins?

Great question:

BEST WOOCOMMERCE PLUGINS

  1. $1,000: Best Back-End Enhancement Plugin
  2. $1,000: Best Front-End Enhancement Plugin
  3. $1,000: Best Marketing/Engagement Plugin

BEST OPENCART EXTENSIONS

  1. $1,000: Best Back-End Enhancement Plugin
  2. $1,000: Best Front-End Enhancement Plugin
  3. $1,000: Best Marketing/Engagement Plugin

BEST PRESTASHOP MODULES

  1. $1,000: Best Back-End Enhancement Plugin
  2. $1,000: Best Front-End Enhancement Plugin
  3. $1,000: Best Marketing/Engagement Plugin

Given the fact that we've been covering eCommerce in several recent posts, and that we've got a queue of posts coming down the pipe for these topics as well, shows that there is a strong interest in the topic.

And since those of you who actively participate in the community are working to better yourself through the articles, tutorials, and contests, this contest is timed very well.

I Want to Participate! What Do I Do?

Great! For all of the details, make sure to check out the event page as it covers everything you need to know about how to get involved with the contest.

As we mentioned in the last article, this is a new cross-promotional effort between the Marketplace Team and the Tuts+ Code Team in order to help bridge the gap that exists between the skills you guys and girls are learning here on the site, and an attempt to help put them to real-world practical use not only in day-to-day work, but in opportunities to win some cash.

If this particular contest doesn't work out with your schedule, no big deal! There are more Envato's Most Wanted events coming this way in the coming weeks - after all, see how quickly this one came up?

As usual, all feedback is welcome in the comments so don't hesitate to let us know. Good luck to those of you who enter!
